Somehow, I find the results of this oddly accurate. =/
And now for something completely different: Flist, who can recommend me a good camera? I'm looking to buy a new one before my TRIP TO JAPAN, FUCKYEAH.
I feel. Fucking rich. And it is good.
Still not entirely sure how I'm managing to save more money now even though I'm making less money than I did at the old job, but I'm not gonna question it.
Doing massive amounts of boondoggling with the kids at work has gotten me itching to do more fiddly, knot-tying, fine motor stuff. So I've decided to start making stuff out of hemp again. Just for shits and giggles, is anyone on the ol' flist interested in a Liz-made hemp necklace or bracelet? Anyone? Bueller?
Finalizing tonight's random brain-dump, I am now a Bi-Scout. The BS uniform is on order and everything.
My job, it is made of win.
Reservations are made.
I am officially going to Japan.

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

...Choosing 5 was difficult. I had more L than I expected.
How have I been an Idol fan for this long without realizing that I have exactly the same birthdate as Fantasia Barrino?
In other news: Due to the eternal win of working on the school calendar, I am off from work this week. And unlike my Christmas vacation, I actually get paid for this one. Here's what I have planned:- Apply for my passport
- Finally get a replacement for my lost Social Security card- Shop for new jeans
- Get a haircut- Go on a grocery shopping expedition
- Finish cleaning and re-organizing my room
- Stop by Siena and visit some people
- Take my compy in for a checkup- Go to O-town for the weekend and:
- Do something for my dad's birthday
- See Pink Panther with my mom and Kathy
- Raid the closet in my old bedroom for things to cannibalize for my office, particularly my old Lego collection
Hopefully my plans will not be hindered too terribly by this Head Cold of Doom I've had the past few days. =P
I've been thinking a fair bit about money lately, since I'm still up in the air finance-wise on being able to go to Japan in June. I'm at a point right now where I could do it, but not without completely wiping out my savings account, something I'm just not willing to do. I have a couple other ideas I'm playing with on how to make extra dough, but what I'd really like to do, in conjunction with the cleaning/reorganizing project, is sell off some of my stuff. There are, of course, limitless opportunities to sell crap on the internet. It's just a matter of figuring out where the best place is to do it.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Dressing as a girl to take a high school Regents exam in place of another student landed a 17-year-old upstate New York boy in some serious detention.
*sigh* As horribly amused as I am by this, I knew it was only a matter of time before he ended up in jail.
The thought has crossed my mind of auditioning for American Idol. Not because I have any delusions of being good enough to make it (or bad enough to get in front of the judges as a train wreck), but because it's one of those Interesting Experiences I like to have once in awhile. Imagine what a conversation starter that would be, eh?
Fuck it. Maybe when auditions for season 9 come around, I'll make a trip.

Apparently, social worker is considered one of the best careers for people of my zodiac sign.
And as a segue from Cancerian empathy for special needs children to Cancerian empathy for sick animals...spare a positive thought or two for Yohji. After suddenly and loudly informing me this afternoon that he had lost the ability to pee, he's going to be at the vet's for a few days, recovering from a urinary blockage. It's going to be a sad, strange few days without seeing his big orange butt lumbering around the apartment.

Physical health goals - Meh, not great. Still haven't been to the gym. Planned to go today, was deterred by after work appointment (see below), will go tomorrow instead. Need to speak with people in O-town about rescheduling the removal of my wisdom teeth. Going for a work physical sometime this week or next, and still need to find a freakin' primary care provider to put on my insurance application. Have utterly failed at regulatin my sleep schedule.
Mental health goals - So far, so good. Have successfully deflected the half-joking remarks of several of my new co-workers about whether or not I've reached the point of wanting to run screaming into the night yet with the sheer power of my Wanting To Be Here. School requires more joy. Newly-painted yellow walls help. Love the kids, even the insane ones, but that's nothing new. Had my first counseling appointment tonight. Went better than I thought. Counselor vaguely reminds me of myself, which helps in an odd, twisted way. Ended up spilling my entire life in a jumble of disjointed fragments. She managed to pull goals out of that mess, so props to her.
Organizational goals - Better than expected. The room is progressing slowly but surely. Went through my clothes and pulled out a bunch of stuff to trash or donate. Have some stuff I'd rather sell than donate, but that would require figuring out where to sell them. Once I subject my bags and accessories to the same treatment, I'll probably have two trash bags worth and will be able to store all my clothes in the closet and dresser, making the cumbersome under-bed storage device I've been putting my off-season stuff in obsolete. Meaning I'll be able to put other stuff in that bin, freeing up more space in my closet and elsewhere in my room. Have stocked and organized my office, and am making a valiant effort to control the influx of papers I have started receiving. Tomorrow I start writing progress notes. We'll see how I do against my old nemesis.
Writing goals - Spot-on. Thus far, I have done some writing every day this year. 15/100 pages of my NaNoWriMo project have gone through a first round of revisions. This is not fast enough for Misha's liking. Have had some issues finding a suitable beta reader.
Travel goals - Hitting Boston again for Memorial Day weekend. Considering a trip to Florida to visit my newly engaged stepsister. Japan is up in the air at this point, since I won't know if I can afford it until I start getting regular paychecks from the new job. Should probably get a passport now anyway.
I love it when local news from my area crops up on Yahoo, and this is why:
COLONIE, N.Y. – Police are puzzling over what would motivate a father and son to haul off six tombstones from a monument company in suburban Albany.
